Finally it’s here; the 2012 Range Rover Evoque latest, smartest, breathtaking small 4X4 has arrived. Range Rover has done a brilliant job in bringing to the market this excellent new vehicle, designed to suite many tastes and satisfy existing Range Rover fans and bringing new ones to admire and even desire the marque. Having put the development schedule through over 1 million test miles, any purchaser can be assured of its pedigree and capability.
There are three basic models, the Pure, the Prestige and the Dynamic, all of which come with several engine choices and what may seem like an endless choice of extras. These can be purchased to give each vehicle its own individual style and make it truly your special car. The engines range from a 2.2ltr 150hp Turbo Diesel delivering 129g/km of Co2 to the new 240hp 2.0ltr turbo-charged petrol engine, capable of 0-60mph in just 7.1 seconds.
The exceptional 4 wheel drive system, named as the Terrain Response system, has settings for general driving; grass-gravel-snow; mud-ruts; or sand to give first class drivability and passenger comfort.
Interior finish is of a premier standard, as would be expected, utilising high quality materials and craftsmanship. Special touches include twin needle stitching on the steering wheel, seats and doors. Dashboard displays are generated through a start up sequence that has to be seen. Extras in the on-board entertainment include an 8inch high definition touch screen with optional dual view technology that will allow a passenger to watch a DVD, while the driver can see navigation instructions. Further options can include satellite TV, DVD playback via 8in screens mounted in the front headrests, with digital infrared wireless headphones. Although the interior is deceptively spacious, it can be made to appear even bigger by the addition of a full sized panoramic glass roof in the coupe and five door models.
The Range Rover Evoque offers a satisfying driving experience in all circumstances surpassing the desire of most small 4X4 car users. The comfort and finish levels are at the top to the tree in all classes. All of this of course comes at a price, from the entry level of £27,955 to the top of the range Dynamic coupe; equipped with the six speed automatic gear box and the LUX pack at £44,320.
This is a premier vehicle, finished to a premier standard and most important of all, it is British.
